Citizens of Thailand are the largest Buddhist community in Finland.

About 1,700 Thais live in Finland. Only slightly more than 100 are men.

The Thais are Finland's tenth largest foreign minority. If only women are counted, the Thais are in fifth place.

In addition to Thais, Finland has Buddhists from Vietnam and other countries of the Far East.

Many Buddhists in Finland are not members of any officially registered religious community. According to official statistics, the various Buddhist congregations in Finland have total of 38 members.

It is estimated that there are about 250 million Buddhists in the world.
